Italian Style Meets New Technology: A talk on venture capital in Italy

Mr Artom presented an overview of innovative technologies, primarily in communications, which have been integrated in "Made in Italy" products. He explained how these sinergies, which leverage and recast Italy's tradition in the innovative use of materials for industrial and consumer design, present new opportunities for investors and entrepreneurs. Mr Artom is a leading Italian entrepreneurs and is currently the president of Muvis, an innovative technology design company, and Netsystems, Europe's largest internet satellite provider. Prior to that, he has been a successful entrepreneur in the telecommunications sector in the 1990's.

Italian Food Traditions: Opportunities and challenges

BAIA introduced a panel of local food industry representatives to explain the new trend of culinary appreciation for genuine and organic ingredients, as a business as well as a cultural phenomenon. The panel discussed what specific business opportunities and challenges this trend generates for Italian producers and American consumers, restaurants, and food importers. The discussiondid touch upon on analysis of the cultural impact that the rediscovery of a more traditional approach to food and wine appreciation is having in the Bay Area and its effects on consumer expectations when dining out, and the perceptions of food in general.
